Parsonage Country House Hotel : York

The Parsonage Country House Hotel is situated in Escrick, about 10 minutes from York City Centre. There has been a settlement called Escrick since Viking times evolving into today's pretty village. Since then, the Escrick estate has changed hands many times over with the Lascelles family, whose name graces the restaurant today, ruling the roost during medieval times.
F.C. Penrose was commissioned to build the "new" Escrick Parsonage in 1848 having already masterminded the new stone church in the village, which was consecrated in 1857. Many of Penrose's drawings are hanging in the hotel today and the fabric of the buliding has barely changed.
